The Journey Begins: Morning Sancaka and the Warmth of Jogja (October 2, 2026)

Taking a quick break from my routine of monitoring server infrastructure in Surabaya, this exciting journey began on October 2, 2026. The morning Sancaka train rolled out from Gubeng Baru Station, taking me to Jogja. Right at 11 AM, the signature vibe of the City of Students immediately welcomed me, plus meeting my relative, Indra, instantly boosted my mood. Warming up before the main event started on Friday afternoon through the LibreOffice ID meetup agenda. It was great to meet face-to-face and chat casually with Pak Haris, Rania, and Cak Didiet. The community's brotherhood vibe was already strongly felt even before the summit officially opened!

D-Day: The Wazuh Stage and Reunion of the Masters (October 3, 2026)
Here is the highly anticipated day. I got the precious opportunity to stand in front of the class and present the material 'Demystifying Server Security: A Beginner-Friendly Intro to Wazuh and openSUSE Leap 16'. Amazingly, the class was packed! The enthusiasm of the audience who attended instantly wiped away the fatigue when dissecting the implementation of the security monitoring. But the absolute best part of today was the reunion. It felt like it had been a long time since I gathered with fellow FOSS activists across Indonesia. At the venue, I caught up with the openSUSE ID frontmen: Cing Rifky, Om Edwin, Pak Estu, Mbak Siska, Pak Ary, Pak Andi Sugani, Pak Vavai, and Pak Yan Arif. It didn't stop there, I also had fun with the legendary BlankOn team: Pak Piko, Pak Levay, Pak Moko, Pak Sokibi, Pak Iwan, and Pak Faiq. It felt like entering the hall of fame of the Nusantara Linux community.

Day Two: KLAS Nostalgia and the Missing 'Boss' (October 4, 2026)
The spirit on the second day of the openSUSE Asia Summit was no less explosive. This moment became a nostalgic reunion with seniors from the Kelompok Linux Arek Suroboyo (KLAS), especially Mas Anton Gandul. There was one hilarious moment when hanging out with Pak Noor Azam—the funny thing is, let alone traveling all the way to meet in Jogja, we barely even cross paths at the PT Radnet office! Hahaha.
Absolutely Awesome!
This event truly cured the longing to gather with open-source colleagues throughout Indonesia. Plus, the opportunity to exchange insights and network with international colleagues made this event even more memorable. From sharing knowledge in a crowded class to laughing with the legends, the openSUSE Asia Summit 2026 is definitely one of the best memories. It was absolutely awesome!
